Collaborating Organizations

Mississippi Center for Non-Profits, Jackson, MS (Fiscal Sponsor):  In addition to acting as Fiscal Sponsor of the MMP, MCNP has expressed a desire to collaborate with the MMP in extending its programming to non-profits throughout Mississippi.

City of Moss Point, MS, Mayor Xavier Bishop, an ardent and early supporter of the MMP, has made available the Pelican Landing Conference and Convention Center for the kick-off facility for MMP EPSS training workshops.

Community Relations Service, United States Department of Justice, Washington, DC: CRS has agreed to collaborate with the MMP in the creation and implementation of specialized training programs and/or mediation involving racial tensions or school violence within the targeted communities.

Mediate.com, Eugene, OR:  Jim Melamed of Mediate.com has generously provided the MMP with advertising space and guidance on internet placement and promotion.  With over 4 million annual visitors, Mediate.com is the world’s leading mediation web site, offering over 2,500 free articles and an expansive video library.  In providing comprehensive web site development, Internet marketing and educational opportunities, Mediate.com is the internet resource for "everything mediation", serving as a bridge between professional mediators, referral sources and participants.

Mediators Beyond Borders:  MBB Members have made an ongoing committment to the MMP to provide necessary mediation, training, leadership and advisory services on an annual basis, which began with their remarkable participation in MMP's "Day of Dialogue" on March 5, 2008, in Biloxi, MS.

Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding Program, California State University, Dominguez Hills, CA:  As part of its collaborative effort with MMP, the NCRPP has offered to provide an online certificate program to students in Mississippi.  In addition, the NCRP Alumni Association (NCRPAA), which provides periodic continuing education materials/presentations and member support in the practice of Conflict Resolution skills, has agreed to welcome all MMP trainees as members of the Association.  As such, trainees also become members of the CSU, Dominguez Hills Alumni Association.

Princeton University Ombuds Office, Princeton, NJ:  Through the services of its former Associate Ombuds, Nicholas Diehl, Princeton University provided facilitation training and services to the Steps Coalition, a coalition of Gulf Coast community organizations serving the needs of  residents of communities also served by MMP programming.

Ridge Training, St. Paul, MN: Founded in 1972 by Robert Bolton and his wife Dorothy Grover Bolton. Both had seen the destructive results of poor communication in their work, but they also knew that skillful communication had the power to make significant contributions to the quality of relationships, learning, work, and life. With a handful of committed colleagues they began exploring what they today we call "best practices" in human communication as well as the best ways of teaching those skills to others. Ridge has spent most of the past 30 years addressing performance and communication needs of Fortune 1,000 organizations and their employees.  Under the leadership now of, Jim Bolton, Ridge has not only donated over 100 copies of their book "People Skills" for use in MMP workshops, but will be spearheading one of MMP's exciting future projects in community saturation of problem solving skills.

Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA:   The Straus Institute has provided facility use and faculty guidance to the MMP in its organizational and program development.  Straus has committed to continue this collaboration with the MMP and has expressed an interest in placing student externs within the project during the “Mediator in Residence” weeks and as mentor support to trainees.
